Mafia Wars Tips and Tricks (Part 2) – Jobs Guide

Facebook: Mafia Wars Tips and Tricks (Part 2) – Jobs Guide

What are jobs?

Jobs are the lifeblood of your Mafia Wars career. If you meet the requirements (see Job Requirements below) for a specific job you can exchange your Energy for Experience points, Money, Weapons, Armor, Vehicles and Special Items that can all be used to make your Mafia Wars character and your mafia itself stronger. Some of these Special Items can be collected and vaulted in order to earn important bonuses for your Mafia. Also, there are some unique rewards for completing all of the jobs in a specific tier. So, without further ado, here is my Mafia Wars Jobs Guide.

What you will find:

How do job requirements work?

Required Items for Jobs:

Throughout the game, the majority of jobs require that you purchase or otherwise obtain certain items in order to perform them. For example, the job Auto Theft listed for the Street Thug tier requires not only 6 energy, but also 1x Colt Pistol and 1x Sawed-off Shotgun. The Colt Pistol and the Sawed-off Shotgun can both be purchased by clicking the Inventory button and then making sure the Weapons tab is visible.

Reward Items for Jobs:

Some items required to complete jobs cannot be purchased with money. Instead, they are given as rewards for completing other jobs. An example of this are the jobs listed at the bottom of the Enforcer job tier. The jobs Distill Some Liquor, Manufacture Tokens, Get Cheating Deck, and Overtake Phone Central all reward you a certain number of required items to perform other jobs in the Enforcer and other tiers. These items are spent when completing their associated job and you must re-earn them in order to complete the job again.

Chance to loot Items for Jobs:

Yet still, there are some jobs that have requirements that are not so easily obtained. You may have noticed the yellow icon of a bag and a question mark listed under the payout section of some of the jobs. If you hover your mouse pointer over this image, a tool tip will display stating a little more payout information. An example is the Burn Down a Tenement job under the Enforcer tier. The requirements, among other things, are 4x Firebombs. There are three ways to obtain Firebombs, via trade (another Mafia Wars player sending them to you), as a random reward for wining a fight, and as a Chance to loot item from the Steal a Tanker Truck job under the Soldier tier. Regardless of how you obtain them, they are needed to complete the mission. Unlike Special Items (discussed below), however, they are not spent by performing the job.

Special Items for Jobs:

Special Items are obtained in the manners discussed under the Chance to loot Items for Jobs section: via trade with another Mafia Wars player, as a random reward for wining a fight, and as a Chance to loot item). However, they are spent when the job requiring them is completed. This means that you must re-earn the required items in order to complete the job again. A good example of this would be the Rob an Electronics Store job. Hovering over the Chance to loot image the tool tip states: “Chance to loot: Concealable Camera, Computer Set-Up, Untraceable Cell Phone.” The Untraceable Cell Phone is a requirement of the Flip a Snitch job located under the Capo job tier. When you complete this job it removes 1x Untraceable Cell Phone from your inventory.

How do I get what I need to do the deed?

Obtaining Purchasable Job Required Items:
This section is easy, for the most part. In order to gain purchasable items all you need to do is buy them. Click the Inventory button and then make sure the desired tab or section (e.g. Weapons, Armor, Vehicles) is selected, scroll down to view the list of items available for purchase, select the quantity you need and click Buy.
I think it is a good idea for me to note here that while performing jobs do provide money, purchasing properties and earning the hourly income is important as some items do have a required upkeep cost. And the best way to purchase properties is by utilizing my spreadsheet.

Obtaining Non-Purchasable Job Required Items:
Trade with other Mafias:

One simple tactic to procure yourself the necessary items to complete jobs would be to ask another Mafia Wars player for them in trade. You will most likely need to have something the other Mafia Wars player wants in order to establish a trade. However, sometimes items are only used for specific tiers and are then useless later in the game. This means that you may be able to find another Mafia Wars player that wouldn’t mind sending you what you need without asking for much in return.

Fighting other Mafias:

That’s right. Sometimes when fighting other players (and winning) you will earn loot. I have won weapons, (e.g. .50 Caliber Rifle, Grenade Launcers, and Napalm) Armor, (e.g. Bodyguards, Night Vision Goggles, and Lucky Shamrock Medallions) Vehicles, (e.g. Harley Davidson “Fat Boy” Motorcycles, Prop planes, and Luxury Yachts) and Special Loot Items (e.g. Untraceable Cell Phones, Blackmail Photos, and Illegal Transaction Records). This makes it quite important to keep your Mafia Wars character and your mafia itself equipped and ready to fight.

Chance to loot:
This should be the most obvious way to earn these required items. Simply find the job you need to do that offers a chance to loot the item that you need. Although this is the most obvious, it is also the most difficult as you can complete a job several (many) times without getting what you are looking for.

Section 2 – Rewards and Benefits

Facebook: Mafia Wars Tips and Trick (Jobs Guide) (Section 2 – Rewards and Benefits)

Will answer: What are the rewards and benefits from completing Jobs and Tiers and Vaulting Collections?

What are the rewards and benefits from completing Jobs?
Jobs are organized into several tiers, i.e. Street Thug, Associate, etc. Each individual job has a mastery scale of 0% through 100%. Every time you perform a job, the corresponding mastery scale increases by a certain percentage. When this scale reaches 100%, the mastery for that specific job is complete and you earn one skill point. The percentage scale for each job will reset once you have reached 100% mastery for each individual job. You will then advance to level 2 mastery for that tier. Once you have completed level 2 in a similar fashion to level 1, the scales will reset yet again and allow you to progress through level 3 mastery.

What are the rewards and benefits from completing Tiers?
Once you have mastered each job in a specific tier you will have completed level 1 mastery for that tier and earned the title associated with that tier and level of mastery (i.e., for level 1 mastery: Street Thug, Associate). Completing each job’s scale for mastery level 2 earns you the ‘Skilled’ prefix addition to your title (i.e. Skilled Street Thug, Skilled Associate). Repeating this process for level 3 will earn you the prefix of ‘Master’ to replace ‘Skilled’ (i.e. Master Street Thug, Master Associate). Once you have completed level 3 mastery for every job within a tier you will earn a special loot reward.

What are the rewards and benefits from Vaulting Collections?
Collecting each individual piece of a collection will allow you to ‘vault’ that entire collection. This will activate the special benefit associated with that collection.

Because I think that part of the fun of any game is the aspect of discovery, and I do not want to spoil anyone’s fun with this game, I decided to add the special loot reward chart to the bottom of this post. Please avoid the section marked, ‘SPOILER AHEAD!’ if you do not wish to be made aware of this information.

“If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.”
